Meari's Japanese Garden

I attended a retreat a couple weeks ago and worked exclusively on JG.   Here's what it looked like at the start of the retreat:

 My goal was to finish the 6 o'clock branches.  Tada!

I also finished the left and right bridges, the blue border, and started the gold metallic.  Woo Hoo!

Last time, I finished the lower left corner.  I've moved to the lower right.  Some progress is better than one, right?!

Haven't worked on this since May 2014. (And it looks like I'm the last one to post an update here!)  Over the weekend, I had a "mini" finish.  I finished the lower left corner ornament.

Japanese Garden Update

I pulled out Japanese Garden.  With any luck, I hope to have it finished by the end of 2014. 

I did the purple specialty stitches on the right side and the water/bridge on the right.  I also did the blue sparklies in both crane medallions.  It's been quite a while since I've seen the bottom part of the pagoda!

Stitched by: Meari   Years ago when I kitted up the Chateline Japanese Garden, I decided to go with the Victoria Clayton Hand-Dyed Silks. Vikki suggested the conversions and I went with it. I recently visited her website to order the colors I was low on and didn't see them. So, I emailed Vikki and found out that the colors I need have been discontinued! Yikes... I am enlisting the help of you, my devoted readers and vistors. Do any of you have some of her silks in your stash that you're not using and would be willing to trade or sell to me??

I've got the entire corner ornament done except for the specialty stitches.

I worked on JG last week and ended up frogging a small section because I stitched one of the bonsai trees ONE stitch too tall. That one little stitch threw the bottom corner of the corner ornament off. Since everything on JG is so close together and contains specialty stitches, there was no way I could leave it and stitch around it.

Hold on to your seats! I pulled out Japanese Garden and worked on it TWO days in a row. I haven't worked on it since last August. I made some pretty good progress in two days.

I have two older projects for the UFO Challenge. I started Japanese Garden in 2006. Despite her prodding in 2011 (Ahem, Vickie!), I didn't get much done on it.

I started Simply Elegant years ago also. For a while, it was my lunchtime project when I worked out of town. Since I no longer work out of town, it got put to the side. I want to finish this one.
