"Children of the Rising Sun"

I finished "Children of the Rising Sun" !!!   Happy Dance!!    The chart is from MarNic Designs.  Stitched on 28 ct Lagana using DMC, Splendor and Gentle Arts threads.  Bead work on head band, moccasin, drum handle and some on feathers.   The feathers was a challenge for me.

just thought I'd post an update

She is getting close to be done, very little stitching left to do, just a little bit in the basket at her feet and then a little bit in the dream catcher, as well as the netting of the dream catcher.  I was hoping to post a finish by the end of July, but most likely will be the end of August.  I'm beading at the bottom of the skirt and have more done than this picture shows - I'm almost 1/2 done.  But I'm almost out of beads, so need to go and get all of the colors and then I won't need to worry.  Last time I only got the dark blue - and now I'm out of the light blue, low on the white and the orange beads.  I've still got lots of the yellow, but don't want to risk it.

I have one finish to show off.  It's the Halloween Tree by M Design.  I'm happy with the finish and can't wait to get it framed and hanging at my office.  I had to re-do the top 3 letters 3 times on both sides before I got it right.  Counting was everything :)

Tee Time

Hello Stitchers!

I finished this about 2 months ago and gave it to a co- worker who was retiring. He really liked it and put it on display at his retirement party for others to see. I also have another finish that I hope to post soon.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you mothers out there!

Busy Spring

Good Morning Readers,

This week is going to be wild. First my granddaughter Cassie graduates high school. We are so proud of Cassie she will start college in the fall.
This week I am packing to move to Blue Springs, Mo into my daughter's basement apartment. I will watch the five year old grandson and keep an eye on the 12 year old grandson.

Then next weekend my son graduates college and him and his wife are moving to Nebraska.

Couple all of this with a doctor's appointment tomorrow. A graduation party and my daughter Amanda flying in for the graduation there is much much much to do.

Then the next weekend my husband will bring up my furniture up and spend Memorial Day Weekend with us.

Then I will watch my two grandsons full time.
I suspect I won't get much stitching in until after Memorial Day. This is actually fine with me as my stitching place will not be set up until Memorial Day. I will have Frank bring my desktop computer up.
What are your plans for Memorial Day? Oh and I am currently reading Birthday Murder by Leslie Meir.
Hugs,
Pam

"Red and Yellow Maple Leaves"

I finished "Red and Yellow Maple Leaves" today.  It is a chart from Japan.  I will have it framed professionally since it was a big project which took me 6 months off and on to complete.  This is my first completed UFO challenge of 2013.

Viv's Deep Blue Sea

OK - as promised, here is my progress on Deep Blue Sea - I've nearly finished Part One, and made a start on the next two parts.  No beads or crystals yet.  I intend to sew the beads on before progressing to Part Four, but all the crystals will have to wait until the end; I'm worried that they might catch on threads/fabric and cause damage.  Hopefully clicking on the thumbnail will take to a better view :)

Meari's Japanese Garden

I've made some progress! Here's what it looked like before:

And now:

Other JG WIP photos can be seen HERE.
It's pretty cool to see the steps along the journey.

To answer Chris' question... I have found stitchers who had the colors I was short on so hopefully, I will have enough to finish JG.

"Red and Yellow Maple Leaves"

Progress updated as of Feb 28.   I am excited that I can see the light near the end of the tunnel.  I have 3/4 of the design done.  I am hoping to finish it in March.

Above the light is not reflecting off the camera but you can't see the bottom of the fabric very well.

Continued progress on Midnight Moogies

I apologize for not ironing the piece before I took the photograph but I wanted to take advantage of the fickle sun as long as it was shining.

socialsue's UFO challenge

This is my progress so far.  It is 1/4 done.  The red leaf on top is the middle of the design.  I call it "Red and Yellow Maple Leaves" because the design is from Japan.   I have no idea what the real title is because it is in Japanese writing.   My son brought it for me to stitch a couple of years ago.   My challenge is to finish this by end of January.

Finally Getting in Gear

My UFO of the moment is Midnight Moogies by Vivienne Powers, published in the July 2006 Cross Stitch Gold  issue.

Midnight Moogies: the UFO
Circa 2006

Midnight Moogies: the WIP
Current

I have another half dozen or so UFOs that I hope to convert into WIPs this year.  It is my goal to have Midnight Moogies finished by the end of February and to move onto the Jacobean Elegance Afghan by Lori Birmingham [I can't remember the magazine in which the design was published at the moment].  I also have a number of unfinished class projects that I will be working on this year dating from 2005 on forward.  Many of these have multiple pieces, adding to the UFO count considerably.  You can see the shocking details in the sidebars of my own blog: http://oubliette-riona.blogspot.com/  I hope to make 2013 the year that I catch up with all my ongoing projects.
